A Fond Memory of Many Years Ago

As a young school girl many years ago, I had the good fortune to be sent on a trip to Washington DC. I was at the time a " Patrol Boy" at Polk Creek Elementay School -the only female patrol boy - Helen Sue was our chaperone and guardian for that trip, as well as the mother of one of our fellow patrol boys, David. We had a wonderful trip and one I remember often . Helen Sue was so kind and attentive, always smiling and sharing. While on that trip Helen Sue had a diebetic spell, which was quite frightening for those of us who didn't know what was happening, however, her son David stepped in and knew exactly what to do, he first grabbed a candy bar from her purse and fed it to her and then explained when help arrived what had taken place with his mother and before long Helen Sue was fine and she insisted we continue our trip as if nothing had happened. My sympahies to the family of a wonderful woman, who I will always remember when I look at  photos of " The Patrol Boys' in their black DC hats with the big feather plumbs.....May God and heaven welcome you with open arms. David we will be praying for you and your family at this time of great loss,
