Obituary for Larry Lee Bennett

Larry Lee  Bennett
Larry Lee Bennett, 70, of Jane Lew passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at his home. He was born in Lewis County on November 22, 1946: son of the late Homer L. Bennett and Kathleen “Katy” Bennett of Weston, who survives. On June 8, 1968, he married Carolyn Lee (Goe) Bennett, who survives.
Mr. Bennett is also survived by two children: Kelli Suzanne Ivory and husband Jeff of Rochester, MI and Brian Lee Bennett and wife Leslie of Bridgeport and five grandchildren: Brianna Bennett, Belle Bennett, Josie Bennett, Matthew Ivory and Allison Ivory. He is also survived by one sister: Judith K. Montgomery and husband Stephen of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brother and sister-in-laws: Patricia and Glenn Hammer of Ft Myers, FL, Norval and Marylee Goe of Olympia,WA and Robert and Jackie Goe of Weston and several nieces. In addition to his father, Homer, Larry was preceded in death by one son: Michael Tad Bennett and two brothers: Michael and Tad Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was owner and operator of Bennett’s Home and Auto where he was president. Larry graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1968 with a degree in business administration. He was a member St Matthew United Methodist Church where he was active in the choir. Larry was a member of Weston Lodge #10 A.F. & A.M. , St. John’s Commandery #8, Knights Templar, Bigelow Chapter #4 Royal Arch Masons, Scottish Rite of Wheeling 32 degree, Nemesis Shrine Temple of Parkersburg and the Lewis County Shrine Club where he was past president. He was also a member and past president of the Weston Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, the Mountaineer Athletic Club and Lewis Countian of the Year. Mr. Bennett was veteran of the United States Navy where he served in Greece and Cape Hatteras.
At the family's request , his services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Matthew United Methodist Church 3rd Street Weston, WV 26452 for the Church Choir. Online condolences and life stories in memory of Larry may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
