Mary Lois Shifflette, 96, of Weston passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the Nursing Care Facility of St Joseph Hospital of Buckhannon following an extended illness. She was born in Lewis County on October 6, 1918: daughter of the late French McClain and Nellie (Harris) McClain. On April 5, 1942, she married Ralph Shifflette, who preceded her in death on February 13, 1992.
Mrs. Shifflette is survived by one daughter: Sandra (Ron) Mick of Weston, four grandchildren: Alvin, Scott, and Kevin Mick and Debbie Lough, eleven great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was also survived by one brother: Stanley McClain of Horner, two sisters: Zola Wine of Clarksburg and Mildred Smith of Weston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ralph, Mrs. Shifflette was preceded in death by one brother: Howard McClain.
Mrs. Shifflette was a cook with the Lewis County School System for 15 years and a homemaker. She was a graduate of Walkersville High School. Mary was a member of the Horner United Methodist Church where she had been the Sunday school superintendent and held many other church offices.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Glenn Lough officiating. Interment will follow services in the Miller Cemetery of Horner, WV. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Mary may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
