The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Charlene Linger can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

My Wonderful Sister

I was only 5 yrs old when Charlene and Tommy got married so I don't have any memories of her at our home. She was not only my 'big' sis but also a second mother to me. I always enjoyed going to her house, playing with her older children when we were young, climbing the hills and picking blueberries, snowball fights, so many gr8 memories. Those gr8 meals with the biggest homemade biscuits also such yummy homemade donuts. I will miss you Sis. She told me that she and Tommy eloped and when they returned our Mom made them get married again lol I guess Mom wanted to make sure they were married. Charlene was the strongest, hard-working, kind, loving and caring woman I've ever known. She not only raised 8 children she cared for anyone in need. When our grandfather (after whom she was named) Charles Edmunston Simmons became bedridden she took him in and took such great care of him until he died. I was also told that she took care of us 3 younger siblings. I was also told that when she was only 5 years old she would stand on a chair to wash the dishes etc. Charlene was not only my sister she was my 2nd mother and best friend.
