Giving me Courage

I remember my first sleep-over being at Daniell's. We went up to her grandparent's house. I remember everybody being able to swim in the pond and I sat at the steps because I had yet to learn how to swim and was really nervous around water. I sat on those steps and talked to Pam while my friends had their own fun. She told me that being afraid was okay and how I would be fine if I wanted to wade out into the water a little bit because she would watch me and make sure nothing happened. I waded out a little bit, farther and farther, and before I knew it, I was halfway to my friends. She gave me the courage and support I needed in order conquer something I was afraid of. That same summer, I began taking swimming lessons and conquered my fear of water completely. Pam was such a wonderful, caring, inspirational woman. I could go on and on, as I'm sure anyone in the community could because she left a positive mark on everyone she touched. She was truly an angel on Earth and will greatly be missed.
