Shirley J. Smith, 71, of Copley Road Weston went on her wonderful journey to Heaven on Thursday, September 29, 2016 in United Hospital Center in Bridgeport following an extended illness. She was born in Weston on March 26, 1945: daughter of the late Mitchell and Bonnie (Turner) Carpenter. On January 19, 1963, she married the love of her life Charles T. Smith whom she has been wonderfully married to for 53 years. Charles will miss her tremendously. In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by one infant son: Charles T. Smith, Jr., four sisters: Elizabeth Weaver, Linda K. Carpenter, Barbara D. Heater and an infant sister: Margaret A. Carpenter and three brothers: Mitchell Junior Carpenter, Roger L. Carpenter and an infant brother: James Carpenter.
Mrs. Smith is survived by four loving children: Shirley “June” Webb and husband Teddy of Orlando, WV, Pamela A. Arthur and husband Bryan of Rock Cave, Bonnie J. Webb and husband Bill of Roanoke, WV and April D. Moore and husband Eddie of Weston. She also considered Brenda Heater one of her daughters. Shirley is also survived by her grandchildren: Joshua J. Webb and wife Cheryl, Nancy Webb, Martin E. Burkhammer, II and wife Julia, Justin Burkhammer and wife Kelsey and Charley, Tabitha, Jared and Keisha Moore and great grandchildren: Elle Burkhammer, Teddy Webb, Hanna Webb and Octavia Webb. She considered all her grandchildren her precious Angels.Shirley is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards and Dominoes with family and friends. She enjoyed having her family close to her at all times and will be missed very much by all who knew and loved her. Her family will love and miss her and she will stay in their memories and hearts forever.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 1-3 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 3 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Mike Riffle officiating.
