Robert Jefferson  Sams
Robert Jefferson Sams, 86, of Weston passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born in Wood County on March 15, 1931: son of the late Shirley W. Sams and Millie Jane (Vance) Sams. Robert was first married to Peggy (Wilson) Sams who preceded him in death on November 9, 1996 and then on January 18, 1998, he married Mary Jo (Mace) Sams, who survives.
Mr. Sams is also survived by one son: Robert L. Sams and wife Debora of Alum Bridge, two step children: Frank Richard of Vienna and Vickie Boyles of Walker, two grandchildren: Ben and Shenna Sams, four step grandchildren: Christopher and Donnie Boyles and Matt and Alicia Richards, three great grandchildren: Kimber S. Sams, Allyson and Zettia Sams and two step great grandchildren: Macie and Kyra Richards. He is also survived by one sister: Ida Mae Carney of Boaz, one brother: Shirley Sams of Vienna and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, Peggy, Robert was preceeded in death by one son: Gail Sams.
Mr. Sams was a retired Frac operator with Halliburton Company. He attended Valley Chapel United Methodist Church and Haleville Union Mission Church of Weston. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and was also an avid reader. Bob liked going to the Lewis County Senior Center to eat and visit.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew, WV. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Bob may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
