Leslie Dale Helmick, 86, of West Second Street Weston passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in United Hospital Center of Bridgeport following an extended illness. He was born in Gilmer County on August 6, 1928: son of the late Virgil V. Helmick and Oleta (Snyder) Helmick. On June 30, 1951, he married Edna Francis (Scarff) Helmick, who survives.
Mr. Helmick is survived by one daughter: Debra J. (Mike) Grose of Berlin community, three sons: Stephen Dale Helmick and girlfriend Diane Harter of Horner, David Brent Helmick and girlfriend Dawn Dolson of Grafton and Kevin Lynn Helmick and girlfriend Heather Foy of Fairmont, six grandchildren: Stephen Chad Helmick, Tonya Lea Kittle, Leslie Pickens, Ryan Lucas Helmick, Daniel Ryan Helmick and Josh Boyd and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Helmick was preceded in death by one brother: William Helmick.
Mr. Helmick was a glassworker and had been employed with the Louie Glass Factory and West Virginia Glass Specialty Company both of Weston and later with Lennox Crystal of Mt. Pleasants, PA and was a farmer. Dale was a lifetime member and big supporter of the Stonecoal Fishing Club although he did not fish. He was a Baptist by faith. Other than his family one of Dale’s greatest joys was playing Santa Clause.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Clifford West officiating.
