Joyce Virginia Hartley Daugherty, 70, of Lost Creek passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Roanoke on March 26, 1942: daughter of the late Russell M. Hartley and Mary C. (Finster) Hartley. On September 30, 1963, she married David N. Daugherty, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters: Becky (Marvin) Harold of Clarksburg, Julie (Christopher) Yearego of Buckhannon and Ann McGrath of Virginia beach, VA and three sons: Matthew Daugherty, Michael (Emily) Daugherty, and Jeremy (Desiree) Daugherty all of Clarksburg. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Ryan Harold, Benjamin McGrath, Elijah McGrath, Sarah Yearego, Jordan Daugherty, Daniel Yearego, and Gabby Daugherty and one great grandson: Vincent Harold. Mrs. Daugherty is also survived two brothers: Jacob Hartley of Jane Lew and Arnett Hartley of Roanoke, two sisters: Clara Peggs of Buckhannon and Joan Murphy of Glenville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by one brother: Henry Hartley.
Mrs. Daugherty was co-owner of Homestead Scooters of Lost Creek. She was a graduate of Weston High School with the “Class of 1960”, graduate of Glenville State College in 1965 with an AB degree in Education with a major in home economics. Joyce was a member of the Horizon Church of Lost Creek, where she was prayer leader.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Senior Pastor Quint Pitts of the Horizon Church of Lost Creek.
