Obituary for John Waitman Radcliff

John Waitman Radcliff, 72, of McWhorter Rd Jane Lew passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center of Clarksburg following an extended illness. He was born in Stout’s Mill on January 12, 1940: son of the late William E. Radcliff and Evelyn Virginia (Craig) Radcliff Minney. On January 15, 1961, he married Mary Jean (Posey) Radcliff, who survives.
Mr. Radcliff is survived by two daughters: Mindi (Ken) McGill of Streetsboro, OH and Shelly (Randall) Fallon of Anmoore, WV, two sons: John (Kathy) Radcliff, II of Summersville and Robert L. (Rhonda) Hawkins, Jr. of Kentucky and one son-in-law Ron Hart of Clarksburg. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is also survived by one sister: Sharon Call of Ohio, Uncle Ivan Craig and Aunt Jean, Aunt Norma Craig and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Radcliff was preceded in death by one daughter: Connie Louise Hart, one brother: Floyd Radcliff and one sister: Shelvajean Facemire.
Mr. Radcliff was a psychiatric aide at the Weston State Hospital. He was a member of the Weston Church of God and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. John was a veteran of the United States Navy. He loved spending time with family and singing and enjoyed hunting and fishing. John never met a stranger and loved helping neighbors and friends.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Randall Hughes officiating. Interment will follow services in the Peterson Cemetery on Oil Creek in Roanoke, WV. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Lewis County Honor Guard.
