Obituary for Harley Brannan Jr.

Harley  Brannan Jr.
Harley Brannan, Jr., 87, of Weston passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in Crestview Nursing Home of Jane Lew following an extended illness. He was born in Greenbrier County, WV on July 24, 1929: son of the late Harley Brannan, Sr. and Lula B. (Sams) Brannan. On September 8, 1998, he married Susan Thomas Brannan, who survives.
Mr. Brannan is also survived by three step sons: Ted “Dusty” Thomas, III and wife Kim of Fairview, TN, Sam Thomas and wife Violet of Camden and Steve Jones and wife Jean of Texas, three step grandchildren: Rhiannon Thomas, Sammy Thomas and Ross Jones and one step great granddaughter: Samantha Thomas. He is also survived by one brother: Sidney Brannon and wife Betty of Sutherland, VA and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three special friends: Betty Queen, Melody Butcher and Pearl Duncan. In addition to his parents, Harley was preceded in death by two brothers: Earl and Odie and two sisters: Edith and Virginia.
Mr. Brannan retired from the United States Air Force on January 31, 1970 at the rank of Tech Sergeant after four enlistments and serving as a weather observer tech. He was a member of St Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston, WV.
At Harley’s request, his body will be cremated. A graveside service will be held at a later date from the Weston Masonic Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force and the Lewis County Honor Guard.
