Obituary for Hadden Eugene Godfrey

Hadden Eugene “Bud” Godfrey, 90, of 11th Street Weston passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Ruby Memorial Hospital of Morgantown following an extended illness. He was born in Burnsville on June 30, 1926: son of the late Manderville Godfrey and Genevie (Harris) Godfrey. On December 23, 1950, he married Ernestine (McNemar) Godfrey, who survives.
Mr. Godfrey is also survived by one son: Steven Eugene Godfrey, Sr. and wife Lula Belle of Sand Fork, five grandchildren: Jeff (Susan) Keith, Steven Godfrey, Jr., Aaron Godfrey, Joshua Godfrey, and Crystal (James) Conrad and eight great grandchildren: Steven Eugene “Trey” (Mary) Godfrey, III, Kathern Keith, Alex Conrad, Kylie Godfrey, Addison Godfrey, Chayton Godfrey, Tristan Conrad and Kyle Barfield. He is also survived by one sister: Leona Crews of Richwood and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by three brothers: Bill, Sterling and James “Joe” Godfrey and three sisters: Ivy Blake, Laverna Conley and Kate Rogers.
Mr. Godfrey was a glassworker with Colonial, Louie and Princess House Glass Factories of Weston. His greatest passion when he was younger was hunting. He also did some gardening, but he enjoyed tinkering. Cars, well Bud just liked to take things apart! He will be missed by family and friends.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Interment will follow services in the Orlando Cemetery of Orlando, WV. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard.
