Obituary for Gerald L. Conrad

Gerald L.  Conrad
Gerald L. Conrad, 90, of Broad Street Weston passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 in Genesis Healthcare of Glenville following an extended illness. He was born in Gilmer County on February 8, 1926: son of the late Sylvia Mary Conrad. On January 27, 1951, Mr. Conrad married Pauline Hope (Davis) Corad, who survives.
Gerald was the father of three children: Karen Lindholm and Tim Conrad and wife Dorcas both of Weston and Dennis Robert Conrad, who preceded him at the age of 3 years old. He was also survived by three grandchildren: Justin (Kim) Van Horn, Ian Timothy Conrad and Gretchen (Bobby) Brown and two great grandchildren: Gabriel and Alexander Van Horn. Also surviving is one brother: Leonard Conrad of Glenville, two sisters: Edabelle Conrad Rogers of Lynchburg, VA and Dolly ( Melvin )Conrad Meader of Baldwin, WV and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by three brothers: Harold, Ruhel, and Stacey Conrad and one sister: Sue Conrad Bosley.
Mr. Conrad retired with 20 years of honorable service with the United States Navy. He was the service and parts manager of Roger’s Motors of Weston and worked maintenance at Roger’s Motel. He and his wife Pauline camped at Middle Fork for 28 years. Gerald was a jack-of-all trades and made knives.
Gerald’s request for cremation was honored and a family graveside service will be held on the morning of Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11 :00 a.m. from the Weston Masonic Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the United States Navy and the Lewis County Honor Guard.Following graveside services, a Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston.
