Friel Wayne Boggs, 75, of Jennings Run Weston passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at home after an over 20 year battle with Parkinson Disease. He was born in Bablin, WV on June 17, 1938: son of the late Darley Walton Boggs and Ina (McCartney) Boggs Lake. On November 25, 1972, he married Diann (Beckman) Boggs, who survives.
Mr. Boggs is also survived two sisters: Naomi (Mark) Perry of Buckhannon and Lucille McCray of Duffy, WV, two brother-in-laws: Joe (Bev) Beckman and Jay Beckman both of Weston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Friel was preceded in death by two brothers: Kyle and Clifford Boggs.
Mr. Boggs worked for Wellman Engineering of Akron, OH, IRC Fibers of Painesville, OH, Goldsmit Black of Parkersburg, WV and Ames Department Store of Weston. He was a veteran of the United States Navy from August of 1961 until August of 1967. Friel enjoyed fishing, hunting squirrel and deer, and going to Bluegrass Festivals. He loved spending time in his workshop working on a weed eater, mower, gun or whatever and listening to Bluegrass music until Parkinson took over his life.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Ronald Brown officiating. Interment will follow services in the McCutcheon Cemetery in Lewis County. Full Military honors will be conducted by the Lewis County Honor Guard.
