I have fond memories of being a student of Miss Woofter's at both Tanner High School and Glenville State College. i remember especially her many acts of generosity in support of us high school cheerleaders. She will be long remembered by me and many others.

Though I never had the opportunity to meet her, Elma Jean was an Alpha Phi Sorority sister of my mother, Catherine Hamric Kalo, whom we lost in August 2015. Elma Jean was a treasured college friend and mother spoke lovingly of her. They exchanged Christmas letters each year and I enjoyed having mother read them to me and reminisce over college days at WVU. One of the stories that comes to mind is that mother and Elma Jean would walk from the sorority house to Chico's Dairy for ice cream nearly every evening. Being a home economics major, Elma Jean knew the number of calories in the milkshake mother consumed and she stated she never could understand how mother never gained an ounce! My condolences in the loss of a great educator.
