Charles Edward Barrett, 96, of Old Mill Road Weston passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Shadybrook community of Weston on September 3, 1920: son of the late Charles Amos Barrett and Georgia (Lewis) Barrett. On March 9, 1992, he married Judy (Dean) Barrett, who survives.
Charles is also survived by one son: Charles Edward Barrett of Clarksburg, one granddaughter: Melissa Barrett and his dog, Popie. He is also survived by two sisters: Virginia Davisson of Jane Lew and Mary Ann Hiteshew of Shadybrook and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife: Madeline (Brown) Barrett, one brother: Thomas Barrett and three sisters: Margaret Barrett, Helen Barrett and Jane White.
Mr. Barrett worked as a railroader for 39 years. He was a conductor for B & O Railroad which later became CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Message of Light Tabernacle of Weston. Charlie was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WW II and a member of the Weston Lodge #10 A.F & A.M. Mr. Barrett enjoyed playing guitar and antiquing especially for train memorabilia.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Bob Hoover and Pastor Charles Barrett officiating. Interment will follow services in the Weston Masonic Cemetery. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Charlie may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
