Catherine Jane Halbert, 94, formerly of W 2nd Street Weston passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Regent Care Center of League City, TX following a sudden illness. She was born in Weston on September 11, 1922: daughter of the late John Henry Burkhammer and Rancie Alice (Woods) Burkhammer. On November 12, 1946, she married John B. Halbert, Sr., who preceded her in death on June 3, 1989.
Catherine is survived by one daughter: Mary Tran, with whom she made her home for the last two years, of Dickinson, TX, three grandchildren: Joanne Leskovjan, Sarah Simoneau and Christine Garland, five great grandchildren: Stephen, Seth and Samuel Fleming and Mikala and Piper Leskovjan and one great great grandchild: Maddie Fleming. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, John, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Sandra Garland, one son: John B. Halbert, Jr., and six brothers: Hayward, Ray, Glenn, Audra, Harley and Claude Burkhammer.
Mrs. Halbert worked with Xerox working with classified documents in the Jet Propulsion Labs in Pasadena, CA. She was a graduate of Weston High School. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel.
