Frances Jean Marple, 92, of Jane Lew passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born in Lost Creek on January 12, 1925: daughter of the late Fred M. Douglas and Gertie A. (Scarf) Douglas. In 1953, she married Coy M. Marple, who preceded her in in death in 1994.
Mrs. Marple is survived by one son: Allen Marple and wife Sharon of Weston, two grandchildren: John Allen and Amy Marie Marple and one great grandchild: Siah Marple and one on the way. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Coy, Mrs. Marple was preceded in death by four brothers, Basil, Ray, Thayer and Wallace Douglas.
Mrs. Marple was a cook at the General Hospital and Maple’s Convalescent Home of Weston. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and word searches. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, sewing and quilting. She was a Methodist by faith.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services in the Friendship Cemetery of Jane Lew, WV. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Frances may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
