Birds

I''m known as the Bird Lady at River Oaks Nursing Home. I've been feeding the birds for the residents there for a few years. I've gotten to know some of the residents (besides my two friends for whom I started feeding the birds, but have since passed). Betty was one of the residents whom I cared about. She loved birds .... little birds. She wanted to be sure that they had seed small enough to pick up with their "little mouths". It got so that she could barely see the birds anymore, but she was still concerned about them. If the seed was getting low, I'd find bread crumbs that she'd throw out the window for them. I only found out today that Betty was gone. Different things had kept me from feeding the birds for 3 weeks ... the longest stretch of time that I've ever gone between my visits. And I even had a little temporary feeder up while I cleaned the nice feeder that I had outside Betty's window. I feel awful if she didn't have lots of little birds outside her window in her last days. The goldfinches, chickadees, & I will miss Betty.
