Obituary for Clarence Joseph Butcher

Clarence Joseph  Butcher
Clarence Joseph Butcher, 68, of Copley Road Weston passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015 in his home following an extended illness. He was born in Copley, WV on April 29, 1947: son of the late Clarence Jasper Butcher and Phoebie (Messenger) Butcher. On July 17, 1976, he married Vivian Joan (Kennedy) Butcher, who survives.
Mr. Butcher is also survived by four daughters: Carmin (Chris) Green of Laurel Hill, FL, Joan Michelle Beckner and Aubrey Jenkins of Buckhannon, Tina Butcher and James Slaughter of Fairmont and Tiffany (Jeremy) Burroughs of Heaters and nine grandchildren: Jonathan Vaillancourt, Ryan Vaillancourt, Colton Beckner, Savannah Beckner, Dakota Beckner, Michaela Ice, Brandon Slaughter, Joseph Slaughter and Emma Lee Burroughs. He was also survived by three brothers: James, Harry and Nicholas Butcher all of Weston, five sisters: Mary Jane Titchnell and Florida Woofter both of Weston, Hazel Ady and Phoebe Allison both of Orville, OH and Maxine Cole of Churchville and two special nephews: Nicky and Matthew Butcher.
Mr. Butcher was a mechanic for WACO Oil & Gas for 17 years. He was a graduate of Lewis County High School with the “class of 1967.” He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam and receiving the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medals. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Joe enjoyed go cart racing and loved muscle cars, off-road racing and going to car shows. He enjoyed tinkering with anything with a motor. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids.
Family and friends will be received at Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Clifford West officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard. Following services and at Joe’s request, his body will be cremated.
