Obituary for Christopher Paul Hoard

Christopher Paul Hoard
Christopher Paul Hoard (Timberhick) age 51 of Weston, WV lost his battle with ALS/Lou Gehrig's on Thursday, May 14, 2015. He was born on November 26, 1963 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio the son of Herman G. Hoard and the late Virginia Lee (Boggs) Hoard of Weston, WV. He was married to Tracy Dawn (Robey) Hoard on 7/07/07 in their yard under their favorite tree by Rev. Jeff Fincham of Webster springs WV. He had two step children Cody P. Henderson and Brianna J. Henderson both of Weston, WV. He leaves behind a sister Victoria Gail Hoard (Jim) Sipes and a half brother James David (Terri) Clevenger both of Weston, WV. Mr. Hoard was survived by three nieces and a nephew. James Cody (Lindsey) Clevenger, Courtney Lynn Clevenger , Kasey Lee Brainard and Chrissy S. Sipes all of Weston, WV. He also had two great nephews Kent Smith and Luke Clevenger. Mr. Hoard was proceeded in death by his sister Mary Christine Hoard and his mother Virginia Lee (Boggs) Hoard.
Mr. Hoard was a 1982 graduate of Lewis County High School and he attended Tri-County vocation school as an apprentice machinist. Prior to his graduation he went to work at the Weston police department as a night shift dispatcher. After his graduation he took on a second job at Forinash and Son Lumber. Mr. Hoard worked several other jobs in Weston prior to moving to Bear DE, in 1988. There he worked for Delaware Seat Company making car seats for Chevrolet's Corsica and Beretta line of cars. In 1994 much like many West Virginian’s "Almost Heaven" called him back home. He then opened his own hound training business on the family farm which he done for 2 1/2 years before going to Moody’s Mobile Homes. In 2000 his Composite career took off at Viking Pools of Jane Lew. Then on to camper tops and tonneau covers in Fairmont WV. On 1/02/2003 he went to work for Aurora Flight Sciences of Bridgeport as a Composite Tech. He then moved up to composite lead and then to MRB Engineering under the supervision of Randall Brian of Harrison County. He finished out his career at Aurora (due to illness) as a Global Hawk V-tails Manufacturing Engineer, a journey he was very proud of all with just a high school diploma. Mr. Hoard was truly a "jack of all trades". He had lots of hobbies but he lived and worked just to be in the woods. His favorite type of hunting was with dogs. He coon hunted since he was ten years old and later took up bear hunting with hounds and with the help of family and friends he built a bear camp in the Mill Run area of Webster County WV.
He then bought his first registered Mountain Cur on his honeymoon trip to Tennessee and took up squirrel hunting with Curs. He often stated that if he would have discovered Mountain Curs earlier he would have never owned any other breed. His second love was music, preferably bluegrass and country. He loved singing and playing guitar with his family and friends.
Mr. Hoard lived his life like every day was the last. He was a registered republican except for a few years when he changed politics’ to help out a family member running for a local office (a person in which he believed could make a change for the good of all in the county) but was adamant about moving back to the republican party before his death and suggested to all he knew to do the same.
One of the blessing (yes) of ALS is that Chris was allowed to make plans for his last days on this earth. One of those was to write his Obituary and a Back Story of his life. He has asked that everyone celebrate his life and enjoy all the good times together. Please dress casual, camo welcomed!
