Geneva Lee (Hawkins) Alkire Brown, 89, of Chestnut Street Weston passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Alum Bridge on April 18, 1926: daughter of the late Jessie J. Hawkins and Dollie M. (Starcher) Hawkins. She was twice married. In 1947, she first married Raymond Alkire, who preceded her in death. In 1966, she then married Joseph Brown who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Brown is survived by three children: Debra (Victor) Alkire Friedmann , Thomas (Sally) Alkire and Robert (Dawn) Brown, seven grandchildren: Gary (Becky) Bailey, John (Sherri) McCarty, Leigh Ellen (Jason) Eades, Cindi Alkire, Tommy (Kayla) Alkire, Laura and Bobby Joe Brown, nine great grandchildren: Brandi and Brittany Bailey, Zachary (Casey) McCarty, Joshua McCarty, Joel Eades, Tyler Davisson, Brandon Davisson, Taya Alkire, and Audrey Brown and five great great grandchildren: Hannah Bailey Osborn, Kiley Bailey Drake, Emily Bailey, Ayden McCarty and Brantleigh Williams .She is also survived by one niece: Diane Ocheltree and one nephew: William Junior Hawkins. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Geneva was preceded in death by one daughter: Donna (Alkire) Bailey McCarty Farnsworth and two brothers: James and William Hawkins.
Mrs. Brown worked at Weston State Hospital from 1963-1989. Her hobbies include watching birds, crocheting, and gardening. She is the last member of her immediate family.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Chaplain Jen Suehs-Vassel officiating. Interment will follow services in the Waldeck Cemetery of Weston, WV. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Geneva may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
