Shirley Clarence  Lester
Shirley Clarence Lester, age 84, of 936 Old Mill Road Weston, WV passed away on November 26, 2014 at his home. He was born June 11, 1930 in Lewis County. He was the son of the late Clarence Lee Lester and Edna Mae (Radcliff) Lester.
On March 28, 1953, he married Louise (McCauley) Lester who survives. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage and traveled through West Virginia, Ohio and Tennessee. He is survived by two sons: Timothy Michael Lester and wife Robin of Roanoke and Clarence Wesley Lester and wife Sharon of Jane Lew, WV. Also surviving are three granddaughters: Elaina Godfrey and Shaun, Sarah Lester and Travis and Autumn Lester and Andy, four great grandchildren: Kylie Jo Godfrey (his checkers buddy), Peyton Ruble, Ashton Walton, and Raelyn Blake. Mr. Lester is survived by one sister: Carolyn Gum and husband Joe and one sister-in-law: Louise Lester of Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one brother: Harold Lester and three sisters: Pauline Sharp, Gloria Kemper, Dolores Wilson and one ½ brother: Theodore “Teddy” Radcliff.
Mr. Lester began his career at age 15 with West Virginia Glass Specialty Company of Weston. He retired October 1993 after 32 ½ years with the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. He was Wildlife Manager, Special Conservation Officer and Supervisor of the Lewis Wetzel Public Hunting Area in Jacksonburg, (Wetzel County) WV. He loved hunting, fishing and camping with his wife and boys.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 30 from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Clifford West officiating. Interment will follow at the Peterson Cemetery in Weston, WV. On-line condolences in memory of Shirley may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CMT Disease-Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation (Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease) care of 936 Old Mill Road Weston, WV 26452.
