Ida Belle Hibbs, 74, of Forinash Road Weston passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 9, 1940: daughter of the late Elias Mick and Emma (Hinkle) Mick. She was first married to Gerald Gay, who preceded her in death. In March of 1976, she married William Eugene Hibbs, who survives.
Mrs. Hibbs is also survived by one son: Lester Gay of Weston, two daughters: Peggy Riffle of Weston and Pamala McCarty of Jane Lew, six step children: Mike Hibbs of Burnsville, Teresa Vickers and David Hibbs both of Kentucky, Steve and Henry Hibbs of Weston and Shirley Linger of Buckhannon, 13 grandchildren:Josh Gay, Jessica Gay, Eric Gay, Chrystal Howell, Ashley Wiant, Danel Lattea, Brionna Varner, Emily Wiant, Isiach Gay, Jordan Gay, Levi Lattea, Lehium Lattea, and Lidia Lattea. She is also survived by one sister: Ruth Gay of Weston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and first husband, Gerald, Mrs. Hibbs was preceded in death by four brothers: Darrell, Hartzel, Lonnie and Danny Mick.
Mrs. Hibbs was a nurse’s aide at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston with 18 years of service and later was a personal caregiver. Belle was a true country girl who loved country life. She was a homemaker, gardener, loved to fish and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also loved to spend her leisure time in her front porch swing.
Mrs. Hibb’s request to be cremated has been honored and a memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Belle may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
