Gladys Marie Blake, 88, of Raccoon Run Road Weston passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Lewis County on February 19, 1926: daughter of the late Jessie Conrad and Roxie (Williams) Conrad. On January 4, 1944, she married Edward James Blake, who preceded her in death on May 24, 1997.
Mrs. Blake is survived by five sons: Paul Blake, David Blake, Randsil Blake, Brian “Keith” Blake and Earl Blake all of Weston, 14 grandchildren, Earl Blake, Jr.,Gary Blake, Cathryn Lake, Debbie Blake, Ralph Daniel Blake, Robert Blake, Tersa Allen, Christina White, Alex Blake, Reva Blake, Erik Blake, Sherry Blake, Roberta Blake, and William Blake and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother: Wilbert Conrad of Walkersville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Edward, Gladys was preceded in death by four sisters: Pearl Eagle, Carie Detamore, Elsie Clem, and Rosie Turner.
Mrs. Blake was a glassworker with Louie Glass Factory of Weston and a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weston. Gladys enjoyed sewing, quilting and making blankets.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Kenneth Miller officiating. Interment will follow services in the Peterson Siding Cemetery on Oil Creek , Roanoke, WV. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Gladys may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
