Obituary for Hubert James Townsend

Hubert James Townsend, 86, of 3395 Indian Fork Road Orlando passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston following a fall. He was born in Orlando on November 10, 1929: son of the late James Albert Townsend and Violet Ann (Blake) Townsend. He was married to Daisy Dale (Riffle) Townsend, who preceded him in death in 1975.
Mr. Townsend is survived by one daughter: Tammy Eagle of Weston, four grandchildren: Jimmy Montgomery, Daisy Montgomery, Virginia Eagle and Ugeana Eagle and several great grandchildren. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Daisy, Hubert was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Anna Dale Townsend, two brothers: Raymond Wilbert Townsend and Herbert Townsend and three sisters: Bertha Rose, Ruby Butcher and Annie Townsend.
Mr. Townsend worked in maintenance with the West Virginia Department of Highways where he retired. His hobbies included buying scratch-off lottery tickets, reading Westerns and listening to gospel and country music. Mr. Townsend was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Ronnie Beeson officiating. Interment will follow services in the Pumphrey Cemetery on Indian Fork Road Roanoke, WV. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Hubert may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
