Mary Frances Moody, 91, of Alum Bridge passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at her son’s home in Alum Bridge following an extended illness. She was born in Alum Bridge on March 20, 1927: daughter of the late Walter Stark and Emma (Wanstreet) Stark. On January 13, 1946, she married Eugene L. Moody, who preceded her in death on July 5, 2000.
Mrs. Moody is survived by two daughters: Deborah Moody-Douglas and husband John of St. Mary, WV and Mary Beth Furby and husband Mike of Jane Lew, two sons: Larry Moody and wife Tammy of Alum Bridge and Thomas Edward Moody and partner Robin Nesbitt of Buckhannon, 10 grandchildren: Charles and Amanda Spencer of Oceanside, CA, Anthony “Pete and Lindsey Hashman of Casselberry, FL, Dylan and Alicia Hashman of California, Lacy Moody and Fiance Todd Pratt of Lost Creek, Tommy Moody and Katlyn White of Alum Bridge, Adaire and Joe Snyder of Westfield, WV, Ali and Anthony Hamrick of Morgantown, Zack Furby of Alum Bridge, Katelyn Furby and Dwanye Compton of Alum Bridge and Ashton Ackerman of Buckhannon and six great grandchildren: Jolee Snyder, Bexlee Moody, Quinn and Blair Hamrick, Finnly and Tobias Hashman and Aiden Fuchs. She is also survived by one brother: Edward Stark of Diluth, GA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Eugene, Mary was preceded in death by one granddaughter: Emma Spencer and two brothers: Charles A. and George Stark.
Mrs. Moody worked for C & P Telephone in earlier years. They moved to Smithville where her and her husband ran Moody’s Restaurant. They then moved back to Alum Bridge where they ran Moody’s Cash Market in Alum Bridge for several years. She was also an assistant Post Master of Alum Bridge and was a homemaker.
Mary was a graduate of St Patrick High School. She was a member of St Boniface Catholic Church where she was active in many ways including St Boniface Alter Society. She was also a member of the WV Farm Women’s Club. One of her favorite hobbies was quilting.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be recited on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. from St Boniface Catholic Church of Camden with Father James R. DeViese, Jr. as celebrant. A private interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew at the convenience of the Family.
