Obituary for Charles Smith

Charles Smith, 84, of Vandalia, WV passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Roanoke, WV on September 10, 1933: son of the late Charles T. Smith and Beatrice (Linger) Smith. On December 8, 1956, he married Rella Grey Smith, who survives.
Charles is also survived by two loving children: Charles R. Smith and wife Terri and Debra K. Hall and husband Gerard both of Vandalia, one granddaughter: Allison N. Smith and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by four sisters: Ruth Hacker, Ruby Cowger, Lucille Lewis and Dorothy Bowyer.
Mr. Smith was retired from the water-well service business and was also an active farmer. Family all said his hobby was working and he was never idle. He never knew a stranger and had a big heart. Charles drilled and repaired water wells all over the county and with his big heart many times accepted a thank you as payment. If you really knew Charlie, you loved him and he will be missed.
