Thelma Waunita Thompson, 93, of Hurricane, WV passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 in Hubbard Hospice House Thomas Memorial Hospital of Charleston following an extended illness. She was born in Freemansburg, WV on August 27, 1924: daughter of the late Irvin G. Jackson and Iva O. (Bennett) Jackson. On March 25, 1950,she was married Lowell H. Thompson, who preceded her in death on August 27, 1998.
Mrs. Thompson is the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Lowell, Thelma was preceded in death by one daughter: Kimberly I. Thompson, two brothers: Hall and Raymond Jackson and twin sister: Velma “Bunny” Corathers. Mrs. Thompson was blessed with special caregivers: Lorie Randolph and Teri Tulloh.
Mrs. Thompson was a nurse’s aide at the Weston City Hospital and later was a temporary clerk in the Tax Office at the State House in Charleston during tax season. Thelma was a homemaker. She enjoyed decorating and cooking for friends and family. If you went to her home she wanted to cook for you. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating.
