Obituary for Diane Underwood Linger

Diane Underwood Linger
Diane Underwood Linger, 61, of Center Avenue Weston ran into the arms of her Lord and Savior at sunset on January 18, 2018, at United Hospital Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Clarksburg on October 15, 1956

Diane was the youngest daughter of the late Harry L. Underwood, Jr and Betty (Ash) Underwood of Weston. Diane treasured the beautiful life built with her "Babe" - devoted husband James W (Bill) Linger, II, who survives. Their greatest accomplishments can be seen in their children: Stephanie (Gissy) Westfall and husband Alan, of Horner, WV; Katie (Gissy) Wurst, and husband James of Orlando, FL; and James W (Bill) Linger, III and wife Missy of Fairmont, WV. Diane and Bill spent countless hours spoiling their two grandchildren Cameron Ross and Madalyn Ross of Horner, WV, along with many grand pups and grand kitties.

Diane treasured the good memories made over a lifetime with her sisters: Becky Underwood of Youngstown, OH (deceased); Betsy Ash and husband Connard of Whipple, OH; and Debbie Ferrell and husband Beav of Grantsville, WV. She will be missed dearly by her beloved nieces and nephews.

Diane retired from Jane Lew Elementary school where she was a secretary. She was quick witted and could always be relied upon for a good laugh, as can be attested by her many friends and colleagues over the years. Diane had an unyielding faith in her Heavenly Father, and loved sharing her love of gospel music, as well as prayer time with her family and friends. She was a member of St Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston and was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution.

At Diane’s and her family’s request, there will be private visitation and services at Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home and burial in the Mitchell Cemetery at Roanoke, WV. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Diane may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
