Floda Virginia   Rexroad (Bailey)
Floda Virginia Rexroad, 106 years young, of Weston and Gassaway passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 in Cabell Huntington Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Lewis County on December 29, 1911, daughter of the late James S. Bailey and Alma (Butcher) Bailey. On September 4, 1929, she married Charles Gilmer Rexroad, who preceded her in death on July 7, 2001.
Mrs. Rexroad is survived by one daughter: Agnes M. Rexroad (Earl L. Bennett) of Weston, Emery Edward “Ed” Rexroad (Vicky Blackshire) of Weston. She is also survived by one sister-in-law: Willa Mae “Billie” Garton of Weston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Charles, Floda was preceded in death by one brother: James Edward Rexroad.
Mrs. Rexroad was a homemaker. For a brief time, she was a glassworker at the Louie Glass Factory of Weston. She was a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church of Weston. Floda loved to cook and always had an apron on and had a variety of them. If you came to her house she would always insist you were hungry and had to eat. She enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved her birds and flowers.
Family and friends will be received at the Broad Street United Methodist Church 210 Broad Street Weston on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. from Broad Street United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Justice officiating. A private entombment will follow services in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens of Quiet Dell, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Broad Street United Methodist Church 210 Broad Street Weston, WV 26452.
