Alice Roberta King, 77, of Weston passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born on Alum Fork in Lewis Co., WV on March 5, 1940: the daughter of the late Dewey and Alice (West) Moody. On July 26, 1957, she married Joe F. King, who passed away on April 29, 2001.
Roberta is survived by 4 children: Cynthia Wilson & Brad of Vadis, Nancy & Brittian Sullivan of Weston, Steve King & Sara of Vadis and David King & Becky of Weston, 10 grandchildren: Jason Wilson, Stacy Smith, Zachary Wilson, Ryan King, Nathan King, Chasity King, Chelsey King, Cody King, Kyle Butcher and Lindsey Butcher. 9 great- grandchildren: Braley Wilson, McKenzie Wilson, Shaelin Smith, Bryce Smith, Ryker Wilson, Keylee Novak, Keyton Novak, Briella Butcher and Lainey Butcher. She is also survived by 2 brothers: Austin Moody of Florida and Kendall Moody of Weston and one sister: Verna Everett of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Roberta was preceded in death by a son: Gerald, a grandchild: Bethany King, two brothers: Gene Moody and Hoover Moody, and 1 sister: Irene Moneypenney.
Roberta was a homemaker and a Christian by faith and longtime member of the Moose Lodge. She loved sewing, animals (as her love was displayed by spoiling her cat “Baby” rotten), dancing and bowling. She was known by all as “the social butterfly”. She did not know a stranger. Her motto was “ Keep the Faith and take one day at a time”.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 12 noon - 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held the same day at 3:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services in the Weston Masonic Cemetery. Following graveside service all are welcome to attend a cover dish dinner at the Hickory House Event Center.
