William “Bill” Roger Stalnaker, 84, of Glenville went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 15th, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Normantown, WV on August 23rd, 1936: son of the late Okey Stalnaker, Jr. and Wyona “Winnie” (Brannon) Stalnaker. On March 21st, 1955, he married Betty J. (Hickman) Stalnaker, who preceded him in death on November 11th, 2016.
Bill is survived by his loving family: daughter Susan Stalnaker-Ware and husband Joseph of Glenville, daughter-in-law that he thought as a daughter: Debbie Dalton Stalnaker of Glenville, 4 grandchildren: Tommy Moody, Niki Ramezan, Cody Stalnaker and Adaire Snyder and 6 great-grandchildren: Jolee Snyder, Greyson and Zander Ramezan, Bexlee Moody and Kenley and Brody Stalnaker. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and loving wife, Betty, Bill was preceded in death by one son: William “Bill” Keith Stalnaker, two great-grandchildren: Mason Stalnaker and Adalynn Snyder and three brothers: Gene, Dick and Okey Lee Stalnaker.
Bill owned and operated Bet-Ro Oil and Gas Company for several years. Earlier in his career, he worked for Equitable Natural Gas Company. He was a member of the Glenville First Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was the president of the Gilmer County Public Service District for 30 years. He was a member of the Weston Lodge #10 A.F. & A.M. and Nemesis Shrine Temple of Parkersburg, WV. Bill’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing and just about anything else outdoors. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and his community.
Covid 19 rules of masks and social distancing will apply as a visitation will be held on Monday, April 19th, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. from the Glenville First Baptist Church 217 E. Main Street Glenville, WV 26351 where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Larry Fleming officiating.
