Obituary for William Claude Casto

William Claude Casto, 89, of Valley Chapel, WV went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 6th, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Statts Mills, WV on February 23rd, 1931 to the late Owens Casto and Sarah Casto. Claude was united in marriage on January 28th, 1950 to his loving wife of 70 years, Dorotha Mildred Casto who survives.

Claude is also survived by 2 sons: Alvin Claude Casto (Janet) of Clarksburg, WV and Vernon Keith Casto (Cindy) of Teays Valley, WV, 3 grandchildren: Jamie Bielinski (Gerry), Jessica Graham (Matt) and Heather Jefferson (Jonathan), 4 great-grandchildren: Rylyn and Peyton Bielinski and Weston and Anza Graham, 2 sisters: Karen Critchfield of Statts Mills, WV and Janet Royer of Massillon, OH and one very special friend Jennifer Peters and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Claude is preceded in death by 1 grandchild Jeremy Casto, 7 brothers and 3 sisters.

Claude was a retired utility man for Consolidated Gas for 42 years and 8 months of service. He was a very active member of the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Leader and a Sunday School Teacher. He was active in his community and coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for 16 years. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows and the Jackson’s Mill Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Claude will be missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 North Main Avenue Weston, WV on Friday, December 11th, 2020 from 11:00AM-1:00PM. A private family service will be held at 1:00PM from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr and Kenny Kendall officiating.
