Obituary for Virginia Allen Monroe (West)

Virginia Allen Monroe, 89, of 620 Lynn Avenue Weston passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 in St Joseph Hospital Nursing Facility in Buckhannon following an extended illness. She was born in Bloomingfield, KY on October 23, 1925: daughter of the late Dee Roy West and Clara Mabel (Winkler) West. Mrs. Monroe was married to Dennis Freeman Monroe, who preceded her in death on August 1, 1981.
Mrs. Monroe is survived by three daughters: Vada Monroe-Mills and husband Robert and Sandra Monroe both of Weston and Clara Mareda Friedman and husband Michael of Jacksonville, FL, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Dennis, Mrs. Monroe was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Mrs. Monroe was a manager at Go Mart for several years. Earlier she worked at Kiddy’s Dairy King( the chili recipe was hers) and Boggess’s Bowling Alley. Virginia was a caring person who gave a lot of her money from Go Mart and Kiddy’s Dairy King to kids in need and stray animals. She was a member of St Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston and was a volunteer at Our Neighbor. Virginia was a great cook and was happy to cook for everyone. One of Virginia’s greatest joys was spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Tim Conrad officiating.
