Virgie Catherine Hopps, 83, of Weston passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in River Oaks Nursing Home of Nutterfort, WV following an extended illness. She was born in Jane Lew, WV on July 9, 1935: daughter of the late Glen Oxier and Mary Elizabeth Oxier. On June 24, 1967, she married Fredrick John Hopps, who survives.
Mrs. Hopps is also survived by two sons: Julian Hopps and Fiance Angela of Weston and Fredrick Hopps, Jr of N. Los Vegas, NV and six grandchildren: Brandon Lee Frame, Rhonda Marie Boston, Brittney Marie Daugherty, Fredrick John Hopps, III, Joshoua Mocka and Sadie Jean Cool. She had two brothers: Freddie and George Oxier, three sisters: Susie, Dorothy and Alta and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hopps was a Teacher’s aide in New Jersey and was a graduate of New Brunswick High School of New Brunswick, NJ. Virgie attended the First Baptist Church of Weston, WV. Virgie’s hobbies included playing BINGO, making crafts and was a part of the Bass Country Band.
Per her request, Virgie was cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Weston, WV at a later date. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Virgie may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
