Obituary for Thelma Idele Jarrell

Thelma Idele Jarrell, 91, of Roanoke, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 11th, 2021 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 14th, 1929 in Morgantown, WV to the late Earl C. Trickett and Nellie Mae (Eddy) Trickett. Thelma was united in marriage on January 22nd, 1949 to Hollis Vincen Jarrell, who preceded her in death in 1994.

Thelma is survived by a grandson David Michael Jarrell of Roanoke, WV, two sisters: Doris Irene (Trickett) Webb of Naoma, WV and Beatrice Mae Trickett of Buckhannon, WV and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by a daughter Rebecca Lynn (Jarrell) Harrison, son Richard Vincen Jarrell, a grandson Adam Vincen Jarrell and one brother Robert Earl Trickett.

Thelma was a graduate of Morgantown High School. She was a telephone operator and also assisted her husband in operating Milner Reed Hotel and his oil and gas business. She was a secretary at both businesses. Thelma was a very active member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church serving as a trustee, past superintendent, past Sunday School Teacher and a member of the choir. She was very caring and giving and donated to the St. Jude Hospital, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls for several years. She volunteered several years at Holbrook’s Nursing Home of Buckhannon, WV and Our Neighbor of Weston, WV. She was a member of the Junior Women’s Club and belonged to the Compton’s Bowling League. Thelma enjoyed playing cards, board games and traveling. She was a caregiver to several family members and was cherished by her all of her family. Thelma will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston, WV on Monday, March 15th, 2021 from 12:00PM-1:00PM. The funeral service will begin at 1:00PM from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andrew King officiating. Interment will follow services at the William L. Smith Cemetery in Roanoke, WV. In lieu of flowers, Thelma request donations to be made to the Vandalia United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 167 Horner, WV 26372.
