Obituary for Terry Wayne Cogar

Terry Wayne Cogar, 66, of Weston passed away on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021. He was born in Weston on January 22nd, 1955 to the late Wallace “Bud” Cogar and Hilda (Singleton) Cogar. Terry was united in marriage, on July 26th, 1974 to Donna Cogar, who survives.

Forever cherishing the memories of Terry are his loving wife Donna Cogar, 3 children: Theresa Turner and husband Jamie of Weston, Brice Cogar and wife Kellie of Elkins and Dustin Cogar and wife Hanna of Weston, 9 grandchildren: Mason Murray, Kaelyn Cogar, Addyson Cogar, Jacksen Cogar, Landry Cogar, Brady Cogar, Reece Turner, Hendrix Cogar and Sayler Cogar, 1 sister: Tammy Rovello and husband Todd of Bridgeport, 1 sister-in-law: Judy Cogar and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Wallace M. Cogar and Francis A. Cogar.

Terry was a graduate of Lewis County High School Class of 1973. He worked as the Transportation Supervisor for the Lewis County Board of Education. In his early years, Terry held the title of the Central WV Amateur Heavy Weight Boxing Champion. He had served as Weston Mayor and City Councilman. Terry was a diehard Gunsmoke and Westerns fan. Terry will always be remembered by his family as a man who could “spin a big yarn!”

Terry’s wish for cremation has been honored. Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, WV on Sunday, August 8th, 2021 from 1:00-4:00pm for a time of remembrance and fellowship.
