Obituary for Susie Olive Nicholson
Susie Olive Nicholson, 94, of Weston went home on Thursday, September 2nd, 2021 to be with the Lord at Crestview Manor. She was born in Smithburg, WV on May 8th, 1927: daughter of the late Alfred Goff Blake and Lura Delphie (Lipscomb) Blake. Susie was united in marriage on July 29th, 1945 to Amos Eugene “Shorty” Nicholson, who preceded her in death on April 24th, 2018.
Susie is survived by two children: Randall Eugene Nicholson and wife Betty Ann of Weston and Celia Linger and husband Larry of Fairmont, three grandchildren: Shawn (Stacy) Linger and Todd Linger both of Fairmont and Chasity (Chris) Anderson of Fairmont and six great-grandchildren: Kylee and Keaton Linger, Eliana and Eva Linger and Brayden and Nicholas Anderson. She is also survived by one sister: Wavelene Cowger of Apple Creek, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Susie was preceded in death by three brothers and 2 sisters.
Susie was a very active member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church in Weston, where she was a member of the Women’s Group and a member of the Administrative Board. She was a member of Lightburn Lodge #88 of the Rebekah Lodge as well as Weston and Clarksburg Lodges. Susie held many positions in the Lodge. She was a member of the Jane Lew American Legion Auxillary and the Jane Lew Fire Department Auxillary for many years.
Family and friends will be received at Broad Street United Methodist Church 210 Broad Street, Weston on Monday, September 6th, 2021 from 11am-1pm. The funeral service will begin at 1pm from the church sanctuary with Reverend Brian Plum officiating. Interment will follow services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broad Street United Methodist Church P.O. Box 1286, Weston, WV 26452. Masks are requested to be worn during the visitation and services at the church.
