Obituary for Stanley Ray Stayer

Stanley Ray Stayer, 74, of Walkersville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, July 5, 2023 under the compassionate care of Crestview Manor Healthcare Center in Jane Lew, WV. He was born on April 29, 1949 in Bedford, PA, son of the late Ernest “Jack” E. Stayer and Doris (McCleaf) Stayer. Stan was united in marriage on December 14, 1983 to his loving wife of 39 years, Donna Kay (Colebaugh) Stayer, who survives.

Forever cherishing the life of Stan are his wife, Donna, step daughter, Deborah Henderson and husband David of Osterburg, PA, 5 great grandchildren, and 2 nieces, Kathy, Theresa and their families.

In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by a grandchild, Derek Henderson and 2 sisters, Carole Essen and Joyce Bartholow.

Stan was a graduate of Bedford High School in Bedford, PA, class of 1967. He furthered his education at Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh obtaining a degree in Business and Accounting. Stan worked as a salesman for Lane Metal Products selling corrugated metal drainage pipes. His job as a salesman is what brought him and his wife to Lewis County. Stan was baptized at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Bedford, PA. He was a member of the American Legion in Bedford, PA and the Weston Moose Lodge #1376 serving on the board there for many years. Stan was an avid West Virginia Mountaineer, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and watching racing.

Stan’s wish for cremation has been honored by Hardman Family Funeral Home of Weston. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Weston Moose Lodge #1376 on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Online condolences and life stories in memory of Stan may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
