Obituary for Shirley Regina Mason
Shirley Regina Mason, 86. of Weston passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 in Mon General Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston, WV. She was born in Proctor, WV on July 21, 1936: daughter of the late Okey T. Mason and Regina T. (Ebert) Mason.
Cherishing Shirley’s memory is one daughter: Leisa Wilhelm Wright (Bill) of Bellville, OH, two grandchildren: James and Bailey Howard, two brothers: Herbert Mason (Joy) of Marietta, OH and Charles Mason (Pat) of Fairmont, four sisters: Clara Meyers (John) of Horner, Agnes Church of St. Marys, Nancy Postlethwait (Lloyd) Fairmont, Barbara Mason (Steve Freda) of Weston and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by three sisters: Roseanna Postlewait, Catherine Mullooly and Mary Watson. Shirley was blessed with a wonderful caregiver: Melissa Parker and a dear friend: Danny Foster.
Ms. Mason was a graduate of Magnolia High School in the class of 1954 and a graduate of St. Joseph Nursing School in Parkersburg. Shirley started her nursing career in nursing at St. Joseph Hospital after graduating in 1957. She later went to work in the Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield, OH. She moved to Weston and went to work at Weston State Hospital where she retired.
Ms. Mason was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Weston, WV. She loved working in her flowers beds which were beautiful and also enjoyed making quilts. She also had a cherished companion: her dog Jessie who was just like a child.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 9-11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. from St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Douglas Ondeck as celebrant. Interment will follow services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew, WV. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Shirley may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
