Obituary for Shane V. Hawkins

Shane V Hawkins, 64, of Davenport, Fl, formerly a resident of Lewis County passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 in North Alabama Regional Hospital. He was born in Canton, Ohio October 16 th , 1957.Preceded in death by his farther, Howard “Ham” Hawkins; his maternal grandparents Frances and Nell Van Horn; and his paternal grandparents “Hoke” and Beulah May Hawkins, all longtime residents of Lewis County.

Cherishing the memories of Shane are his mother, Martha Jean Hawkins nee Van Horn; his two brothers J Dare Hawkins and his partner Jeanette Abernathy; Ricardo Hawkins and his wife Deborah Ann; and, nieces Shannon Hawkins Higdon, husband Mark and their son Elias; Rebecca Hawkins and her partner Joey Giunta; as well as numerous cousins.

Mr. Hawkins had a long career as a telecommunications consultant engaged on several global projects on each continent. His early career developed and assisted in the roll out of national paging systems as well as communications for several space launch projects. He received several awards and accolades from telecommunication trade organizations.

He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed fishing and hunting in and around Lewis County.

A Graveside service will be held on Friday, August 12th, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew, WV with Reverend Joe Shreve officiating.
