Obituary for Ronald Denver Sholes Sr.

Ronald Denver Sholes, Sr., 82, of Walnut Drive Weston (Pricetown community) passed away on Saturday, July 4th, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pricetown, WV on December 21st, 1937: son of the late William H. Sholes and Dollie (Harper) Sholes. On May 31st, 1963, he married Rosalee E. (Lofton) Sholes, who survives.

Mr. Sholes is also survived by one daughter: Karen Foster of Camden, one granddaughter: Samantha Hefner (Kevin Hefner, Jr.), and one great-granddaughter: Maddyson Hefner. He is also survived by one sister-in-law:Mary Agnes Sholes of Jackson Mill, several nieces and nephews and one special nephew: Mike Sholes. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sholes was preceded in death by one son: Ronald Denver Sholes, Jr., two brothers: Wilfred and Frank Sholes and three sisters: Charlotte Sholes, Alfreda Klicker and Willa Means.

Mr. Sholes was a retired tankman with the West Virginia Glass Specialty Company of Weston and was a program planner with the William Sharpe Hospital of Weston. He was a graduate of Lewis County High School and a member of the Waldeck United Methodist Church. Ronald was a veteran of United States Army National Guard. Ronnie’s hobbies included hiking, skiing, hunting and fishing when he was able. He enjoyed cutting brush and clearing the hillside as he would say.

At Mr. Sholes’ request, he will be cremated and a graveside service will be held on Friday, July 10th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from the Waldeck Church Cemetery with Reverend Peter Dietze officiating. Interment will follow services in the family section of the cemetery. Online condolences and life stories in memory of Ronald may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
