Obituary for Roger Joe Jones
Roger “Joe” Jones, 65, of Weston passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021. He was born in Gilmer County on July 5, 1956: son of the late Kenneth P. Jones and Mary Helen (Metz) Jones.
Joe will always be cherished in the memory of his children: Adam Jones and wife Kendra of Charleston, Johanna “Hanna” Cogar and husband Dustin of Weston and Madison Watson and husband Jordan of Vandalia and especially his grandchildren: Grayson Jones, Xander Jones, Jacksen Cogar, Landry Cogar, Hendrix Cogar, Sayler Cogar, Callahan Jones, Ozzy Watson and Sully Watson who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his siblings: Linda Newsome and husband Willie of Johnstown, OH, William Lyda Jones and John Jones and wife Debbie both of Normantown, David Jones and wife Sherry of Burnsville, Mike Jones of Jane Lew and Dennis Jones and wife Debora of Wooster, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was employed by Dominion Energy with over 25+ years of service. He was a graduate of Gilmer County High School. When he was younger, Joe had horses and enjoyed riding them. He loved his grandchildren and will always be remembered for the M & M s and Fudge Striped Cookies he always had for them. Joe was a generous soul and would help anybody and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
At Joe’s request, he was cremated through Hardman Family Funeral Home and a Celebration of His Life will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. Joe did not want a formal service but his wishes were for family and friends to get together and swap Joe stories, laugh and remember the good times.
