Obituary for Robert Jonathan "Butch" Riddle
Robert Jonathan “Butch” Riddle, 70, of Wolf Pen Run Road of Weston, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Weston, WV on June 14, 1952, son of the late Ralph Jonathan Riddle and Helen Lee (Burkhammer) Riddle, who survives. On July 3, 1991, Butch was united in marriage to Angela Jo “Angie” Riddle, who preceded him in death on October 1, 2021.
Cherishing the life of Butch are his mother, Helen, son, Rob Riddle and wife Bobbi of Huntington, WV, step daughter, Andrea “Andi” Lamb and husband Dave of Jane Lew, WV, step son, Robert “Bob” Wentz and wife Julie of Cornelius, NC, 2 grandchildren; Samantha and Alexia Riddle, 4 step grandchildren; Tara Fisher, Jared Lamb and Jessie Eldred, Lauren Wentz, and Megan Wentz, 2 step great grandchildren; Landon and Rylee Fisher, 2 brothers; David Riddle and wife Linda of Buckhannon, WV and Gary Riddle and wife Katrina of Weston, WV, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Helen Ice.
In addition to his father and wife, Angie, Butch was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Jo Riddle.
Butch was a graduate of Weston High School. He retired from Dominion Gas as a welder with 30+ years and then later as a welder and inspector for different oil companies in the region. Butch was a member of the First Baptist Church in Weston. He enjoyed welding for friends and family and building stock race cars. Butch was an avid racer and loved racing his stock cars on all the local dirt tracks with his family and friends. Butch has left a lot of friends from Heater’s Restaurant of Weston and will be missed by all of them. Most of all, Butch cherished time spent with his family and will be missed dearly by them. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital and WVU Hospital’s Cancer Center.
Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 11AM-2PM. The funeral service will begin at 2PM from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Mark Evans officiating. Interment will follow services at the Harrison Grove Cemetery in Weston, WV.
