Obituary for Richard Ray Brightbill

Richard Ray Brightbill, 92, of Weston, passed away on September 3, 2022 at the Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon, WV. He was born in Lebanon, PA on May 7, 1930, son of the late Harvey Calvin and Margaret Clara (Brown) Brightbill. Richard was united in marriage on September 19, 1973 to Wilma Augustine (Waugh) Williams Brightbill, who survives.

In addition to his wife Wilma, memories of Richard will be cherished by 2 daughters; Cynthia Kay Brightbill of Nags Head, N.C. and Mary Ellen Sharp of Tampa, FL, 3 sons; Keith Ray Brightbill and wife Nancy of Boone, N.C., Robert J. Brightbill of Jane Lew, WV, and Edward Lee Brightbill of Weston, WV, 2 step daughters; Cathy Taylor and husband Ron of Weston, WV and Cindi Pickens and husband Dave of Weston, WV, 1 step son; Eddie Williams and wife Connie of Weston, WV, 5 grandchildren; Justin Brightbill, Jordan Sharp, Bryan Brightbill, Ashley Brightbill, and Kiel Brightbill, 5 step grandchildren; Brian Williams, Brandi Galiano, Brad Taylor, Amber Bailey, and Kyle Pickens, 1 great grandchild; Ashton Everhart, 8 step great grandchildren; Jake Williams, Jordan Galiano, Kiefer Galiano, Colten Taylor, Alex, Abby, Lexi, and Bricen Bailey, 1 sister; Agnes Chamberlain of Bozeman, MT, 3 brothers; Norman Brightbill of Myerstown, PA, James Brightbill of Bethel, PA, and Lonnie Brightbill of Lebanon, PA and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Harlan, a grandchild, Jeremy Brightbill and a step son, Roger Williams.

Richard retired from J. C. Penney’s as a Manager and also worked for Sun Electric Corp. He was a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge in Richmond, VA, Scottish Rite Temple of Richmond, VA, and the Shriners of Parkersburg, WV. Richard was an Honorary Member of the Lewis County Emergency Squad. He was Protestant by faith and a member of the Episcopal Church of Weston. Richard enjoyed playing cards, board games, hunting, and loved the ocean.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Lewis County Memorial Garden in Weston, WV with Pastor Bob King officiating. Interment will follow services. Online condolences and life stories in memory of Richard may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
