Obituary for Rella Marie Conrad

Rella Marie Conrad, 80, of Jane Lew went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2023 in the comfort of her daughter’s home in Jane Lew surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gilmer County on October 1, 1942, daughter of the late Cecil Glenn Lowther and Reda Virginia (Wilmoth) Lowther. Rella was united in marriage on June 3, 1972 to Everett Ray Conrad, who survives. Together they shared a beautiful 50 years.

Cherishing the life of Rella is her husband Ray, 2 daughters: Judith M. (Judy) Metz and husband Tim of Weston and Heather M. Lattea and husband Robert (Bobby) of Jane Lew, son: Charles R. Conrad and wife Tina of Jane Lew, 2 grandsons: Chad E. Metz and wife Jenny of Buckhannon and Charles R. Conrad II (Charlie) and wife Alisha of Horner, 3 granddaughters: Shanda J. Bailey and husband Jason of Glenville, Nyocia M. (Nikki) McVay and husband Bill of Weston, and Taylor M. Lattea of Jane Lew, 2 great grandsons: Tyler Metz and Gavin Bailey, 4 great granddaughters: Hailey Metz, Morgan Metz, Meranda Conrad, and Gracie McVay, 2 brothers: Charles E. Lowther and wife Glendale of Roanoke and Earlin W. Lowther of Jane Lew, several nieces and nephews, and two special grandpups: Willow and Annie whom she loved to spoil.

In addition to her parents, Rella was preceded in death by 1 brother: Hubert G. Lowther, 3 sisters: Mary J. Cutright, Linda S. Stutler, and Sharon A. Marteny, and 1 niece, like a sister: Sharon D. Aylor.

Rella worked for 17 years at the Caravan Restaurant as a waitress and 21 years as a glassworker for Louie Glass and Princess House/Glassworks. She was a member of the Haleville Union Mission Church and loved being involved and going to church. Rella looked forward to a call from her brother Charles every Friday and enjoyed their conversations. She loved working crossword puzzles, sitting outside reading, and watching her favorite game shows, especially Family Feud. Most of all, Rella cherished time spent with her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 4PM-7PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11AM from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Riffle and Chad Metz officiating.
