Obituary for Peggy S. Gaines (Nicholson)
Peggy S. Gaines, 74, of Buckhannon passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in Holbrook on the Hill Nursing Home of Buckhannon following an extended illness. She was born on March 15, 1945: daughter of the late John Robert Nicholson and Edra Grace (White) Nicholson. On July 20, 1963, she married Donald R. Gaines, who survives.
She is also survived by two daughters: Donna Gaines of Buckhannon and Kathy Feathers and husband Donnie of Good Hope, one son: Donnie Gaines and wife Nina of Buckhannon, 4 grandchildren: Tiffany (Derrick) Bunch, Lindsey Feathers and companion Austin Teter, Ryan Gaines and fiancé Kelly Weaver and Todd Gaines and fiancé April Syrews and six great-grandchildren: Kohen and Gracelynn Bunch, Maddelynn Feathers and Blake, Ronan and Dominic Gaines. Also surviving are three brothers: John Robert Nicholson, Jr. and wife Shirley(deceased) of Weston, Leonard Eugene Nicholson and wife Martha and Lloyd Thomas Nicholson, one sister: Betty Mullaney and husband Joe of Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gaines was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Peggy loved her dogs. She enjoyed watching Westerns. She had a green thumb and yellow roses were her favorite flower. Peggy sewed her children’s clothes. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a Methodist by faith.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from11 a.am.- 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating.
