Obituary for Nancy Lee Banks

Nancy Lee Banks, 66, of Shinnston, WV passed away on Tuesday, October 20th, 2020 following a brief illness at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born on March 30th, 1954 in Letter Gap, WV to the late Edward Garrett and Minnie (Harris) Garrett. Nancy was united in marriage to Clifford Banks on December 17th, 1994 who survives.

Nancy is also survived by 1 daughter: Theresa Riffle of Weston, WV, 2 sons: Jamie Butcher of Youngstown, OH and Damen Banks of Shinnston, WV, 4 grandchildren: Leslie Simpson, Marissa Garrett, Cassandra Butcher and Nick Butcher, 4 great-grandchildren: Alexander Simpson, Jace Simpson, Cali Taylor and Grayson Taylor, 4 brothers: Delane Garrett and wife Joellen, Delbert Garrett, Dayton Garrett and wife Ann, Danny Parker and wife Rose, and 3 sisters: Loraine Harris and husband Stanley, Marie Kulp and husband Jack, and Janet Smith and husband Erlo.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by 1 brother: Michael Parker and 1 sister: Delma Garrett.

Nancy was a graduate of Weston High School. She furthered her education at Fairmont State College and graduated with an accounting degree. She worked at Fairmont First National Bank, Olen Mills Studio in Maryland and ran a daycare out of her home, Banks Daycare. Nancy’s 3 dogs: Tashi, Jody and Kuma and 1 cat: Kiiro were her pride and joy.

Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, WV on Saturday October 24th, 2020 from 11:00am- 1:00pm. A private family service will be held at the funeral home chapel at 1:00pm with Pastor David Riddle officiating. Interment will follow services at Peterson Cemetery of Weston. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the Humane Society of Harrison County 2450 Saltwell Road Shinnston, WV 26431.
