Obituary for Mildred Ruth Cumberledge

Mildred Ruth Cumberledge, 77, of Weston, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Salem Genesis Center. She was born on January 7, 1945, daughter of the late Ellis Edward Thompson and Edith Beatrice (Perrine) Thompson. She was united in marriage on April 10, 1981 to the late Stanley E. Cumberledge, who preceded her in death on December 4, 2021.

Mildred is survived by 3 sisters: Janet Amrozowicz and husband Bob of Georgia, Shirley Wright and husband John of Colorado, and Jessie Thompson of Salem, 2 brothers: Clarence Thompson of Clarksburg and William Thompson of Salem, several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Stanley, Mildred was preceded in death by a daughter Katrina Bowen and a son Cary Wayne Bowen. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers: Delbert, Charles, and Ronnie Thompson and a sister, Edith Messenger.

Mildred was a graduate of Salem High School. Mildred started working at the age of 16, with various jobs. When she met Stanley, and moved to Weston, she worked at the Diary Mart and Ames of Weston. Mildred enjoyed gardening her vegetables and planting flowers.

Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 11AM-12PM. The funeral service will be held at 12PM from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew.
